This morning I am just in a ranting mood, I got a phone call from my parents to say that my grandmother was around their place in tears.

Apparently someone playe a prank call to the police last night telling them that there was a disturbance at her house and they turned up in a car with lights blazing, wearing full body armour and nightstick in hand.

Bearing in mind we cremated my grandfather a fortnight ago, she was not best pleased anyway, and has had a nervous breakdown. Cheers pranksters!

Anyway my rants today are a little more sedate, starting with OAP bus passes.

Now I am all for helping the retired and elderly. This and the next generation of retire-ees have done a lot for this country, such as the World Wars, the industrial age and women getting into work, and of course the plight of the younger generations turning out to be thugs, chavs and Tony Blair.

Some local councils however are taking the "michael". All of Hampshire have given our senior citizens a bus pass to travel throughout the county for absolutly nothing. Brilliant idea, and well deserved, except in Fareham.

Fareham have decided that their OAPs can only travel for free in FAREHAM. Did the residents of Fareham not give as much during the hard times? Is it that they do not ever travel outside of the town boundaries?

Consider this, the local hospital for Fareham is Queen Alexandra (Portsmouth), your local areas of beauty for walks and stuff are Boarhunt Forest (Wickham - just outside the town boundries), the Queen Elizabeth Country Park (Petersfield) and the Meon Valley, all welcoming to those who live anywhere but Fareham for free!

Maybe Fareham Council should take a leaf out of everyone elses book!

Moving swiftly on, it also gets my goat when people who are invited onto chat programs and in this case IRC chat channels start to spam (repeating the same tripe over and over)

First of all, why would you want to ask a computer to impale you in the nuts with a tiny vacuum cleaner (actually its because we usually aim it at other people in there), but also why do it so many times within the space of a minute.

In DumBclan we use the IRC channel not only for general chat, but to discuss issues and for players to report cheaters for us to investigate, spamming is sometimes fun but theres a boundry.

AND FINALLY: and this is not a rant.

I went buying my misses' birthday present last night. I got two seats to see the new musical "Footloose" at the Novello Theatre in London, for April 22nd. Its two weks into its new run so by then they shold all be settled into their roles at the theatre. I will report back on what is billed to be an excellent look at the 80's and has a lot of 80's music in it.

Not much happened today. So I thought I would tell you something about Customer Service training.

I went for my Induction Week - Corporate Customer Service day a couple of months back (18 months late, but better late than never) and being the longest serving member of staff on the course (by 18 months less one week) I of course cold offer some real-life advice to the inductees..... My company did not bank on me doing this.

So I told them the truth:

If a customer refuses to pay for a ticket, don't bother threatening to get the revenue saff to throw them off, because they won't. Even if they did, you would end up in the wrong for infringing in the scroats human rights.

If a fight breaks out on-board, don't bother phoning the police because they never come out, just lock yourself away, and run the train from the safety of the rear drivers cab. If that means innocent bystanders get hurt then so be it.

Heres a good one: If another train operator fails the customer during their journey, you must accept blame, humbly appologise and offer them a free 1st class upgrade or drink.... "Welcome to Southampton. I am sorry that you had a 10 minute late departure from Glasgow 4 trains ago, on your super cheap ticket. Here, have a first class upgrade for free which these gentleman had to pay 8 times what you did to go a quarter of the distance."

So anyway. Apparently I have "issues" and The reason I am so negative is because I bring home life into work....

You sure? I live alone.... I have NO home life and what I do have is sucked up by the companies enforced overtime at single rate pay.

My home life is not where the lack of backup from Management comes from. Far from their 9 - 5 Monday to Friday desk job they try to manage some of us who start at 7pm and finish around 2am. How can you manage what you can not be bothered to see. Tellings off are by letter, praise is far and few between.

The one manager who did put in some unsocial hours soon got transfered over 100 miles away!
